Ending a Lifelong Battle with Binge Eating: How She Did It

Do you find yourself trapped in the miserable cycle of binge eating and yo-yo dieting? It’s a pattern that can feel impossible to escape.

Perhaps you have had countless attempts at different diets, meal plans, or weight loss programmes, leaving you to wonder if lasting change is truly possible.

But there is a different way

That's where my approach comes in. Sustainable transformation isn't about temporary fixes or extreme restrictions but about addressing the root causes, reshaping habits, and empowering you to build a healthier relationship with food that lasts.

Martina is a shining example of how this approach can lead to real, lasting change. After years of struggling with binge eating and the rollercoaster of yo-yo dieting, Martina finally found freedom through our work together.

How Martina Ended her battle with binge eating

We started by exploring Martina’s food world - not just what she was eating, but how it was affecting her body and why that might be driving her binge episodes. Together, we looked at the physiological reasons behind her cravings and how stabilising her blood sugar would help reduce them. Martina learned what a balanced way of eating looked like for her, focusing on what she could add to her diet to support her body, rather than what she needed to cut out.

Becoming Her Own Food Detective

But food was just one piece of the puzzle. We introduced the food, mood and appetite journal not as a tool for perfection or judgment, but as a way for her to become curious. Martina started recording not just what she ate, but how and why. This helped her to spot patterns and triggers and taught Martina to become her own food detective.

Understanding Hunger and Habit Loops

We worked on hunger and fullness cues, using the hunger scale so Martina could start to recognise when she was physically hungry, satisfied, and when she might be eating for reasons other than hunger. We explored Martina’s habit loops and problem-solved for specific triggers that kept showing up.

Shifting Mindset and Body Image

Alongside this, we did a great deal of mindset work, challenging unhelpful beliefs, exploring Martina’s values, and improving her body image, which is such a critical part of healing your relationship with food.

Step-by-Step Progress

She made incredible progress in a short period of time. For some people, this journey can take longer and that’s completely okay. The most important thing is focusing on steady, step-by-step progress, noticing the shifts in how you think, how you feel, and how you treat yourself along the way.

Martina’s story is inspiring, and she’s far from alone. If this resonates with you, know that it is possible to break free from this cycle, heal your relationship with food, and feel good in your own skin. The first step is simply beginning your journey.
